I'm a little confused. Are you purposely not saying that phrase to someone you love, and you are wondering if it hurts you? I think if you are purposely withholding that phrase for selfish reasons, then yes, it hurts you, and the other person because you may need to say it, and they may need to hear it.

You know i have a boyfriend and he told me he loved me, but i didn't respond back by saying i loved him, because i wasn't sure, and i could see the hurt in his eyes. so yea i think it does, but never say it if u dont mean it.

if you tell him you love them then your hurting yourself and them because your not being honest .
honesty doesn't hurt . your being true to yourself .
