Does anyone know if you can rec.Child Support from a DEADBEAT DAD in Texas even though child is an adult?

sure can, if its arrears (owed) or if the child is in college... today, arrears are forever. the child can be getting married and the deadbeat still owes it.

if there is a court order for child support; they can:
1) put leins on his property
2) put leins on his bank accounts
3) take deadbeats tax refunds (state and federal)
4) take the deadbeats drivers license away
5) jail of course, until he coughs up a chunk of cash

and so much more...

1) call your caseworker and ask:
--where you apply for interest on the arrears?
--was the case submitted for tax refund intercept?
--was the arrears reported to the credit reporting agencies yet?

2) sit down and write a letter. in it, give your contact info, case number, his info, arrears amount, the problem and ask them what they are doing about it.

then take that ONE letter and FAX it to the following:
a) your states Attorney General (link is below)
b) your states Governor (link is below)
c) your states Regional FEDERAL Child Support Office (link is below)

phone calls are useless; they are ignored, denied and forgotten. mail ends up on someones "to do" pile, but FAXES are effective. its proof you sent it and proof they recieved it, therefor, they HAVE to address it. if you cant find a fax number (most are listed online) then just call them and ask for it.

if you hear nothing in a week, fax them again. fax them weekly if need be. its the squeaky wheel that gets the oil, if ya know what i mean.

3) post his DEADBEAT FACE ON A DEADBEAT SITE ONLINE.

Yes the parent who is the obligee, is entitled to support if there is a judgement against the obligor. There has to be a judgement of in the courts, unless the adult child has signed over the debt as "settled" to the courts. The obligee will be entitled until the judgement is met. Go to the child support enforcement website in your area, or you may look under the US Code website for specifics, which could include a suspension of the dead beat dad's drivers license, incarceration, and sanctions filed against property, vehicles and the like.

hum I don't think so but I'm from Michigan. My G\F brother is a dead beet dad & his son lives in Texas. The mother call & called up here & every time this guy would be sweep off to jail. Well the said part is because the kid is now 21 the father don't work he lives with his mom still ( he's 54) & he told the judge up here he was not going to ever pay. & They could lock him up for life because he don't care. The Judge up here threw out the case. Its sad because this boy could have used the help but the mother was a drugdealer thats why the father wouldint ever send money to her. Becides the fact that he couldint ever see him because she was to busy selling drugs. I would contact your local gov office or FOC office & give them all the info you have they will be able to help you out. G\L

Even though the child is an adult, that child is entitled to all the back support never received. There are web sites out there that may help you, if not I would consult legal advice. The child is entitled!

You're entitled to what he didn't pay before the kid turned 18, but after that (s)he's an adult and doesn't get child support anymore.
