I was thinking of wearing a Darth Vader Helmet, walking down the isle to the death march that plays when Darth enters in the first episode.

Jedi is not a religion.

Why not! I was at a midieval themed wedding a few years ago and there is no reason you cannot go with a particular theme. Just make sure that the minister or whoever is licensed to officidate has a sense of humor (would not hurt if they like Star Wars as well). If you are Darth Vader, who would be the groom? By the way, if you are going to be Darth Vader, don't let the groom be Luke - otherwise, there will be the "Luke, I am your father" and the Oedipus Rex jokes that result.

If you want a romantic theme to it, why not be Leia and have the groom be Hans Solo? You could still use the same theme music. By the way, Leia's Theme would be great for the candlelighting portion of the ceremony!!

Boy you've got my imagination going with this one. Are you going to take out light sabers during the reception...or during the honeymoon? :)

Just make sure that your family and friends are okay with the theme; otherwise, they might not appreciate wearing the costumes. My friend, who had a medieval themed wedding, had a difficult time getting the wedding party to wear the outfits. She had to settle for the groomsmen to wear colored pants instead of tights and her mom refused to dress up as well.

It would also be a great idea to let the invited guests know about the theme for another reason. They can dress up in their favorite costume as well and join in the fun!!

P.S. If you are concerned about being Leia because she was not a Jedi, start reading the licensed books that took place AFTER the fall of the empire. There's an interesting storyline that goes on about Leia (look for one of the licensed books that takes place about 5 years after the fall for more info). Those books will go into who she ends up marrying and you will find out that she does have some Jedi tendencies!!

Congratulations and have fun!!

The Imperial March was associated with the Empire, not the Jedi. It's a military march, not a funeral march. And Vader wasn't really a Jedi, either; he kind of retired from that club when he took up with Palpatine. So what you're looking at is an Imperial wedding, not a Jedi wedding. And I heartily approve; after all, the Jedi considered attachments like marriage forbidden. (At least until they were wiped out and Luke reconstituted the Order under saner rules in the EU.)

hey, it's your wand your husband's wedding. if you want to do that, go ahead, you don't need anyone's permission. people have had stranger weddings. some people have LEGO weddings (yes, they make everything out of legos. tables, chairs, even the alter!), weddings based on video games (halo, etc) and even weddings based based on books (redwall, harry potter, etc)

if you want star wars, go ahead! heck, i'll be your cheering section. i think it's a great idea.

PS

that song might be easier to find if you search for the "Imperial march." instead of darth vader's deathmarch.

hope this helps!

good luck, and congratulations on your engagement.

You can have any kind of a wedding that you would like - the choice is yours and the sky's the limit.

Here's a fun idea, why not have a Halloween themed wedding and have your guests also dress up like characters from the Star Wars movie saga?

CONGRATULATIONS on your up-coming wedding.

Have a lovely rest of the day.

There have been all kinds of weddings out there... Rennie weddings, Star Trek themed, Star Wars themed... so if you like hiding your face... go for it. Oh, wasn't that theme, you mention, actually the Imperial theme, not a "death march"?

lol, my husband would love that, I kinda like Star Wars, too, but that would be fun. Our wedding had a DJ and both sides of the family were grooving to disco, my hubby danced with my sister to "play that funky music". lol. I taught my new nephew and neices to circle dance, it was so much fun.

You can do whatever you want. Death wouldn't be my first choice of symbolism for a wedding, but then, it's not my wedding.
