Any mole that appears suddenly should be seen by a dermatologist. It is a sign of cancer and you need to have it checked to make sure it is not cancerous.

A change in an existing mole should also be checked by a doctor.

a sudden mole COULD be cancer, but may not necessarily be cancerous. yes, see a dermatologist to rule out cancer. however, be aware that sun damage you may have gotten as a child could still be affecting your skin, and each subsequent sunburn causes a build up of melanin in certain areas, thus producing freckles and/or moles. i have new ones every year that pop up... but i still have a yearly full body exam with the dermatologist to make sure they do not develop into skin cancer.

the dermatologist will explain to you the main things to pay attention to where moles are concerned and you should also give yourself full body exams every few months to be on the safe side! :)

hope this helps.

most moles are harmless we are born with it..they come in many colors but most common is brown.. it progresses as we get older due to exposure of the sun ....some what like freckle.. some are hereditary .. what they are skin cells known as melanocytes that produce melanin (dark pigment) its the same cells that produce the color of ur hair and eyes...how ever it can change in size and shapes specially if ur expose to sunlight allot...if it become irregular in shape? i would suggest that u see a dermatologist to have them look at cuz it can be serious....
