Ok, I have asked questions regarding this before but I want more imput.

1st question: For years I thought my teeth were moving more then they should. I know teeth move a bit cause they are like shock absorbers. They have to give alittle so we can chew our food. I went to the dentist last week for a cleaning and he said they are fine. His exact words were, "Wonderul clean well kept teeth. Good job" Should I take his word as gold and believe him and just stop being paranoid about my teeth moving?

2nd question: For people who grind their teeth.... before you got your night guard or whatever the dentist gave you, did you feel like your tooth was hollow cause you clinched so much? And did your teeth move a bit? After the night guard, did it lessen and start to feel normal again? Did the moving lessen also and feel like your teeth hardened back up?

I go to the orthodontist next Tuesday (8 days) and I am really concerned about what he is going to tell me.

You're right they do have a little give. Ask if how much they're moving is normal. I grind my teeth I don't have a night guard. But I'm sure it's a normal sensation. Just ask the dentist if everything is normal. Don't worry if he says something is wrong usually they can fix it. I hope this helps you and good luck!

With medical advances being what they are today, you don't have anything to worry about. Orthodontia can fix nearly everything. Have you had your wisdom teeth removed yet? That could be a problem if you haven't...I had 2 sets of braces for a total of 5 years...my teeth were perfect, but since I didn't have my wisdom teeth out (my choice, scared of needles) my bottom teeth move like crazy! Good luck!

Hi it's me again, don't want points or anything, but the way you described your tooth as like a stubbed toe sensation without the pain is exactly how my teeth felt during orthodontic work, and since if I have been particularly stressed and have been really clenching way too much. I honestly don't believe we can lose teeth through clenching / grinding alone. If we can, then help me as well!!

I don't think you should worry as much. If your teeth are moving maybe the orthodonist will make you a retainer even though you have never had braces, it still keeps you teeth in and wear it at night. You can even ask for the clear retainers. they break a little easier though.

never used a night guard before, sorry.

Phew! You are a worry wart for sure! But if you really have an issue believing your dentist, simply seek out another dentist. It's natural to want to have multiple opinions from doctors.

Believe your dentist. Dentists will tell you when something is wrong- that's their job. It does him/her no good to lie to you about something like that.

Mention it to your orthodontist next week. (S/he will probably say just what the dentist said.)

Relax!

if you grind your teeth, then do you have mercury fillings? because that is a symptom. if you remove them and chelate it out of your brain, the grinding stops.

Considering you're asking the internet, i haven't even read your question, but i'd have to say since you're turning to Yahoo, you're being paranoid.
