alright so here's the story!

I'm a senior in high school and my best friend and I both have the last period lunch of the day. None of my friend's have that lunch and those that do leave for an internship so i can't really eat lunch with them. I give my friend rides home EVERYDAY because she doesn't have a car. Every single day she has been telling me that she has to go to guidance. Litereally every day to find out about colleges. Today she told me that she had to go to guidance during our lunch (again for the 5th day in a row) i saw her at her locker i said are you coming to lunch she was like "no i have to go to the libary" I said didn't you say you had guidance? she told me she went during homeroom but she sits RIGHT IN FRONT OF ME in homeroom and she was there! So now i'm refusing to give her rides home considering i have to sit by myself at lunch now. Is that mean of me? I just keep making up excuses and she gets REALLY MAD AT ME...am i really being that big of a jerk?? Am i?

Okay, your friend is dumb. I say you just call her and ask her what she is doing during her lunch period. And I dont think your wrong for not giving her rides homes. It seems like all she's doing is buming rides off of you. If she's not giving you gas money I really wouldn't give her a ride.

It's your car, you have a right to give rides - or not give rides - as you see fit. Yes, you are being a jerk, but heck, you have a right to be one if that's what you want.

My advice? Stop making excuses. If you don't want to give her rides, tell her - and tell her why. Sure, it won't make her happy, but the phony excuses are a lot worse - and you better believe she can tell they're phony.

If the two of you air out what's really going on, you may be able to come to some sort of arrangement. If you can't, then at least you'll both know what the deal is, so she'll stop bugging you about rides and you can stop making excuses.

Eating lunch and riding home are separate. If she is busy or has other things to do at lunch, then that should not affect whether you give her a rides. However, she should be contributing to your expenses. Perhaps a buck a day for rides? (more if you live far)

Yes, you are. You're being a jerk by not telling her why you're not giving her rides home. You shouldn't be pretending that nothing is wrong when obviously it is.

Maybe she was doing something that she doesn't want to talk about. Maybe she's going to therapy and is afraid of what you would say. Maybe she's seeing someone that she knows you would disapprove of. Who knows? You won't know until you ask her about it.

Lies make my skin crawl.
Tell her how YOU feel when you're being lied to.
Please don't avoid this.
Anyway, you're a senior, and you will be likely to split up when college comes around...
Oh, gee, is she scared to leave her best friend?
Seriously, talk baout it, and then go be a jerk to her if she doesn't change. If you opened up, it's not being a jerk! It's your right, then.
But you may find out some surprising things and work it out instead.

Go you!!! You aren't a door matt tell her to get off her *ss, get a job, and buy her own car. I don't see why she is too good to eat lunch with you but not too good to get rides home with you. Besides, she shouldn't be taking you for granted.

No, you're not being mean. It's your car and you have every right to say if you give her a ride or not. If she's ditching you then she's not a good friend, especially if she's lying about why she's ditching you.

She's your best friend, but are you sure you're her best friend, or just a ride home? lol I would come out, point blank, and ask her what is going on. Honesty is always the best policy.

I dont think you are being a jerk because a friend does not lie to a friend i think you should talk to her about his. Ask her why she is lying to you. Maybe she is not the friend you thought she was, is always better to talk about things then letting them get worst.

Sounds to me like she's just using you for a ride home and doesn't really want to be your friend. I could be wrong, but that's how I interpret this.
