It can be taken in all accounts hypothetically. But you must bear in mind that the Bible god is not an actual being.
He had many profound emotional issues, he liked collective punishment, he wanted the people to burn animals on the altar of his ego, cause he liked the smell of burning flesh, as well as the adulation of everyone. He was basically the epitome of a mixed-up old man, probably Moses' alter-ego.

this is a very good question. I guess it's something you just kinda have to figure that out for yourself. Pesrsonally i believe the bible to be 100 percent truth and i take the bible litterally. but like when jesus is telling a story to prove a point and it says that he's actually doing that i have enough common sense to understand that that particular story was an illistration. hope i helped

The Spirit leads us in all good things. Some things in the Bible I think may carry more than one meaning, so one person may read a verse and take one meaning while another has a different view, but both may be right. For instance I think it is Matthew 10:45 of thereabouts, "If you were blind you would not be guilty of sin, but now that you claim to see your guilt remains"..... Some could interpret this as meaning that if you have faith and become blind, you are not guilty of sin, but if you claim to see (i.e. have made a spiritual decision) but keep sinning then your fault remains...... Others may think it means that if you never have a change to conscientiously accept Christ, for instance you never hear about him, you are not guilty of sin because of your ignorance, but once you hear of Christ you are bound to accept him or perish..................... The scripture may mean one of those things, it may mean both..... That is because the Word of God is living and active.

The Bible is God's Word for us. We can understand it ONLY if we pray from the bottom of the heart for that. THE BIBLE and THE HOLY TRADITION are very important together.
