It's supposed to be a face. Usually it's supposed to convey that the poster is weirded out by something.

I'm glad you asked this, I wondered about it, too., and there are other things that people post, like when someone puts a little cross on their post, how do they do that?
Not understanding this stuff makes me feel so....so......clueless. aahhh!
