It actually depends on what state you are in. If this is your child you want full custody of and this child is already residing in the house with you, you would need to go to family court to file a petition for full custody. If the child is not residing with you full time this is the course of action you'd take as well. It is just a bit easier if the child is already living with you. If the child is not yours then you would need to obtain a lawyer to give you the particulars on how to start the process. Hope this helps.

go to county court building in your city, get papers from family division, like friend of court, fill them out pay the clerk they will set a court date and u fight for why u want custody, it all depends on who u r to the child and why u want custody of the child and why u would be the better guardian for the child.
