they either use the bible or cite some christian website as their source of information to make their points. dont they understand that the bible or sites that quote the bible are exactly what we, the non-christian crowd, are using to base our questions and attacks on? you cannot use the object of disbelief as proof to the unbeliever! do they not see this?

As someone mentioned before the Bible is used because they believe it to be the "Word of God", so it can't be wrong. Alas the bible can be wrong, and has been used for wrong. Plus scientifically it is highly lacking.

Anyone who debates evolution should read this article:

I know it's not going to change the Christians minds but at least it will stop them from asking the same questions over and over again.

I guess not. There was one answer (wish I had bookmarked it) that did a good job of actually constructing a proof, granted it did not hold up when you looked at it's sources and implications, but it did show that someone had put some thought into it.

One of the things that amazes me is that Christians tend to believe everything and anything that is said by another Christian i.e. "a Christian author or pastor says it, it must be true."

I don't. I use the scientific evidence provided, such as improbability of mistakes forming compatible patterns, the inability to explain an ape with 47 chromosomes (they only found chromosome II with two centromeres) being able to reproduce, the inability to reproduce evolution, and ignoring the fact that the same result can be produced different ways (science is just math applied to the real world).

and then for the Big Bang, I just tend to quote the Roman Maxim, which scientists adhere to now adays: Ex Nihilo Nihil Fit( nothing comes from nothing). And since the singularity came from no where and nothing, then wow, that's a valid theory...

Believers by nature are grounded in a point of view. They can not allow the smallest hole in their reasoning or explanation for fear of a total collapse of their belief. In other words belief is based on will power.
If they based their notions of Spirituality on Faith which is totally different from belief, they would not need to be so defensive.
I suggest they try it, faith that is.
One of the most distinguishing qualities of faith is that it is not necessary to prove because faith is a form of knowing.
The problem is that some time in life nothing holds up when challenged by the most painful and disastrous occurrences. (torture is like that) That is what happens to combat troops. War challenges their childhood notions and frame of reference that makes life seem more predictable, understandible and acceptable.
Everything collapses including faith and belief. But faith can be restored because it is based on spiritual imagination, not proof or the so called facts and figures of everyday life.
Good question.

yeah, i hate when you ask christians questions there they go quoting the bible, many times it has nothing to do with what was asked, or it is there own sick interpretation of what they think it means and what someone told them it means. i mean, come on. do they ever really pick up an old dictionary and look those words up? geesh.
it's like with the marriage thing, clearly marriage today is just a way uncle sam keeps up with us and taxes us. but christians always talk of, get married, get married ...when the old definition of married is simply two people together and committed to one another spiritually and lovingly.

okay, i got a little beside myself.

The "christians" in their zealous narrow minded assault on the world always quote the bible. Have you ever sat with two Baptists of different churches that do not agree?? They blast each other with quotes. This is one aspect that got me to wondering, when the "christians" cannot agree about the same book. You are correct in your conclusion, but as I and others have seen, FAITH MEANS NOT HAVING TO THINK FOR YOURSELF.

I do not think that all Christians do. I only use scientific evidence in a scientific debate for the same reason you stated. I think many of the Christian that do that do not know enough science to try and debate in a different way.

Personally, I don't need to "disprove" a theory. It is only a theory.

You can believe in theories if you choose. I choose to believe the Holy Bible.

Hi, this is Chad at the Crisis Center. We appreciate your call. We here at the center do not endorse blanket statements concerning any beliefs or those that have them. Generalities lead to misunderstanding and are indicative of limited thinking. Thanks for calling and have a nice day.
