It's amusing how anyone can think Congress is "undermining the war effort" when Congress is the only branch that has the constitutional authority to declare war, and the only branch that has the constitutional authority to allocate funds to the military.
So, exactly how can they be undermining the war effort by doing what the Constitution allows and requires them to do?
Bush and Cheney just don't like the fact that they have to answer to someone else.

Congress has undermined the cause, with their idiotic Non=Binding Resolution...now it up to them to provide the needed support for the troops, with money and supplies.
If they don't then they are not only undermining it, but setting it up for failure.
What happened 40 years ago has nothing to do with today,,Clinton dodged the draft too, and Liberals think he is a hero ( puke) He is the major cause of this war, since he dodged what needed to be done, when he was in office.
No one likes war...The troops are all volunteers and signed up for this very reason....and they support the Administration. You chose to stay home safe and sound, and allow the Troops to protect you. They are doing a fine job, as no further attacks have taken place.
Simply put, you either support the entire package...or you are supporting nothing. Your choice...Leave the real choice to the Professionals...The Administration and the Military

What I cannot figure out is why all of the people who criticize Cheney for his deferments never criticized Clinton for dodging the draft?
Personally I see the people criticizing Cheney as a bunch of hypocrites.
Besides - if you have never served - what right do you have to complain about anther's lack of service?

Yes, Congress' recent actions are undermining the war effort.
I don't see the deferment connection, unless you're suggesting that the millions of people who receive deferments also under mind the war effort.

Cheney is just continuing to be Cheney. The difference now is that no one is listening to him but the Bush bots. Most of us have a pretty good grip on this man. He's smarmy and dishonest and a master of spin. But I think his time to spin has run out. Every time he opens his mouth now people look at him sideways, and they should.

It is not the issues they have with Bush, it is defunding and denying equipment to the troops that undermines soldiers and their lives'.
The difference between Vietnam and Iraq is that noone who is in Iraq is a draftee, whereas the majority of those who served in Vietnam were draftees. There is a huge difference between a volunteer army and a conscript army.

Keep your eyes open this week for what comes out of Conyers office regarding this subject. I hear it is going to be interesting. Somebody needs to undermine the war effort. -k-

I wonder if Halliburton is going to still be considered a US company (which we should support) now that it will be based out of the UAE?
