This is what the Good News of Christ is all about. God himself confining himself to a human body and paying the price for humanity.

he did not think of equality with God
as something to cling to.

Question or unsolicited, anti-biblical preaching? Hmmmmm....

If a situation presented itself that would necessitate my death so my child could live, I probably would because I've lived a full life and he hasn't yet... but that has nothing to do with saving an entire world. It has to do with the love I have for my child and the logic in forfeiting my already full life for one yet to be realized.

Don't confuse parental love for fiction. Neither Harry Potter nor God are real.

Thanks for the convoluted logic, though. :-)

(boombaladee, I LOVE your thinking! I completely agree... you must know you are sacrificing something in order for it to be a sacrifice. My dying WOULD be a sacrifice... God come to life as a Jesus just to return to heaven is NOT a sacrifice. Great job!)

Kin selection tells us that the benefit has to outweigh the cost so...Right now I'd have to give my life for a minimum of 2 of my kids since I am virile enough to replace a single.

I have no kids

Also, there is no god

yes I would die for them....why is that such a big deal? I've not met a parent who would not die for their child.

and how can god be sacrificing anything or suffering anything IF HE KNOWS HE'S GOD? If he knows he's headed back to heaven, and he knows he's all powerful...then he sacrifices NOTHING.

This is also a theme with a substantial number of mammal and avian species, but is not with reptiles and fish or other living things.

Yes I do. No I wouldn't. Dying for them would leave them fatherless. The good news is old hat.

As for the additional details, blah blah blah.
