You ever notice how Christians used to protest SpongeBob squarepants, claiming it was teaching tolerance,

Star Trek fans seem to be more or less gay-friendly, accepting of their gay friends and family members.

Why aren't Christians protesting Paramount Pictures and UPN and all that?

I feel that tolerance and kindness go hand in hand until they reach a certain fork in the road. We can only tolerate that which is good and reverant to life, and at the point where we are no longer kind to life, we can not afford to be tolerant. But kindness does go an extra mile to teach why something is dangerous and should be avoided. Kindness also saves us from traps.

Star Trek teaches tolerance without kindness, while Sponge Bob as simple as he is, is always kind. In fact, he shows that even a kid can change the outcome of intolerable things being done to his friends and even his foes, by being brave.

How can that be wrong? Intolerance is a vanity of pride and selfishness, and over-tolerance is cowardly and specious.
To tolerate is to draw a line or a circle of life in the first place, and to be kind is to try to keep people within the circle that
safeguards life. And we do that no matter what kind of shape another person is in (as in, who is my neighbor?)

These so-called Christians need to be rid of the leaven of vanity and the refusal to sacrifice for love. What could be less Christian?

Sponge Bob is gay - or a trekkie? I'm confused.

What are you saying Jim... I'm a christian not a miracle worker... oh wait - never mind... what were we saying?

-- historical note - christians used to protest Star Trek in the 60's. ----- (okay, I made that up - but there was a lot of protest when Nichelle Nichols showed up as a black female on the command bridge.)

Don't you remember the gay kiss episode in Deep Space 9 (oh what a name - Freud would love to analyze that) - the christians went ballistic....

So yeah, christian hoodlumism is alive and well - sadly....

Jesus would be a trekkie.

A lot of the themes in Star Trek are written in in such a way that one actually has to THINK a little deeper than the obvious to find the parallels, so some things skip off some people's minds like the space shuttle missing it's re-entry corridor shallowly. Some people refuse to perceive the obvious, even when the obvious is thwacking them right upside the head, like science...

Cause they know fanatics when they see them and are probably afraid to piss off all us trek fans in the world...lol Can you imagine?? If I was christian I would know better than to screw with star trek fans cause there are ALOT of us... ha ha it would kinda be like sticking your hand right into a wasps nest. Man the principles in a friggin tv show are better than the bible morality thats for sure.. you dont see Picard telling his crew to behave or they will be punished eternally..

Please don't make general statements. I am a Christian and I am gay friendly. I have friends who are gay. I don't agree with their lifestyle, but I love the individual person. Some of my friends are not crazy about the fact that I am a Christian, but they accept me for who I am.

P.S. I am a SERIOUS Trekker...LOL

What is with this Christian thing dude? Its Americans who're doing it. You'll find that "Christians" in other parts of the world behave differently. Americans are very, very conservative when it comes to most things.

Christians have better things to do like: practicing karma-sutra at home or hold weekly family orgy.
