The radio 4 program about the Chargos Islanders who were thrown off the islands to enable the Yanks to set up a military base in the 1960's. How many out there think that the people should have their islands back?

No they should just pay fair rent to the Chagos islanders, who should have the right of return.

If you followed the American rhetoric on freedom, democracy, human rights and dignity, etc., (never mind one's sense of natural justice) and wanted to practise it, you will have to conclude that these people should be given back their land and returned to their country. But the American government has never tried to practise it themselves. The plight of the native American Indians and Hawaians are examples. When it comes to a clash between their (WASPs) interests and the interests of others, the former will almost always prevail. Some will call it hypocrisy or double standards, but others will call it prudence. Unfortunately, Chagos Islanders are as likely to get back their country as Obama is to be the next president.

im afraid its a matter of national security, we benefit from the american intelligence that comes from that island. anyway it was 50 years ago, i bet they cant even remember what the place looks like
