Religious wars are not about religion at all, religion is just the excuse used to justify it. Wars are always about who has power over what land/resources/people.

Resources, resources, resources. Distrubution of wealth is the reason for any armed conflict. I could be wrong, but wealth is people. If parakeets had cash or gold, people would fight over the chance to influence the parakeets into diverting that wealth into their own coffers.

if religion were to vanish tommorow people would just find something else to use as its premise to argue, hate, murder,
and all the other tragic things mankind does.
and its funny how our politicians are using the religion card like never before but somehow thats over looked.
maybe self intrest is the real problem..

yes, and not just religious war, every war is either in the name of 'God' or 'justice'. both are imaginary and only on the winner's side.

If by "imaginary friend" you mean "closest relationship with god and a better claim on who's god's people," then yes.

Richard Jeni quote.
Here's another:
“I think that's how Chicago got started. A bunch of people in New York said, 'Gee, I'm enjoying the crime and the poverty, but it just isn't cold enough, let's go west.'”
Richard Jeni 1957-2007.

No. Religion is just something the thugs hook onto in order to have a spurious justification for violence.
