Relax...think it through and try again. I had a safe that was very particular about the # of turns past a certain number and you had to land exactly on the right number and feel a click. It drove me nuts. I bought one with a key.

I just went and bought a safe today, what a coincidence that I should find someone ask a question on safes.
I got one with 2 keys, and no electronic lock or no combination lock.
I intend to keep the safe for a very long time and worried what would happen if the electronics went defective or the motor or solenoid that opened the bolt were to get defective, this is a real fear and could easily happen at some time in the future. With the combination lock system there is always the fear that the lock could get jammed or a lever could wear out or get stuck inside causing the safe to become a problem.
I would suggest that you take some time out and think up what the combination was. Then very calmly start trying it out in leisurely manner. Dont rush yourself. You may try writing down the combination, then as you go through the numbers make a check list of the different steps and check mark each step as you go through it. This way you wont forget any particular step. And if you do you dont have to go back to the beginning.
In future please try and remember the combination, also keep a combination that is easy for you to remember and not associated with your license plate, or birth date or house number. those are the most commmon combinations people put up and hence the least effective.
And yes, it is a good idea to let someone you know and can trust know about the combination. You never know, if God forbid something should happen to you, someone should be able to get into that safe.
Best of Luck and may God Help you!
