The answers you get are from total strangers who don't know you or your situation. Most answers seem to be written by people under the age of 15 - why do you think their advice is worth the time of day ? I'm genuinely bewildered !

because sometimes it is more satisfying to get an opinion "outside the box" so to speak.

Having said that, its all about the points!

What's so bewildering about a person needing advice? The fact that the questions are so personal doesn't change the fact that they hope to find something helpful to them in their lives. And asking total strangers is easier for some people than asking people who know them. They may also feel that they might get more honest answers from strangers than from people who know them since those people might sugar-coat the answer.

I was wondering that myself - like a 30 year old should be taking advice from a teenager. But maybe that is why it is so good, because you have to take each answer on it's merits (or not). And it's good to put something out there and get different thoughts about it that you might not get from the people you know in the real world.

And it may sound sad, but maybe people ask such personal questions here because they can remain anonymous, or maybe they just don't have anybody they feel they can talk to.

Does that help to relieve your bewilderment?

I don't know about the 15 year old part, but advice columns and shows have been a media staple for many years. There is something about the anonymity of complete strangers that encourages people to ask and give advice. It's not a new concept - just a new venue.

lol, I'm bewildered too. Aren't you asking total strangers personal questions, or questions for that matter? Haven't some of the questions been answered by people who are under fifteen, as well as people who are over 15?.....just wondering.

Not all people on this site are kids, in fact, I would actually say that the majority are adults. However, I do see your point. Some people on here ask questions that are TOO serious. For example, there was a girl on here a few weeks back asking for advice because she was contemplating suicide, I noticed she hardly got any answers. People with severe emotional problems should seek professional help, not ask people on Yahoo Answers.

A lot of the questions are also ASKED by people under fifteen. Sometimes a youngster's opinion is valuable. Besides that, when really stuck on something (especially emotionally), a lot of people will look just about ANYWHERE for some kind of answer. Doesn't mean they'll take Yahoo as the BEST answer...

Dear Bewildered,

In general, people like to have the knowledge of others who have been there or done that, thus they ask the advice of others.
There's a lot of knowledge to be shared and sharing what you've experienced with others and doing so in the best answers you can give can be rewarding in that you've helped someone you don't even know.
Try it, you may find it makes you feel better about yourself.

sometimes talking to a stranger you get better advice than talking to some who you know or knows you.and what makes you think that most people who answer questions are under the age of 15?? if u are under 15 dont think every one is like that. on top of that age doent matter when it comes to advise-life experience matters!!
