well it depends if ur into him too, if u are, then go along with the flow and show him ur interested, if ur not into him then don't panic and whenever he makes a move or trys something tell him that ur best friends and u don't want to ruin ur friendship. Also, u can try to hook him up with somebody, divert the attention from u to someone else, as a best friend u are helping him to move on and forget about the break up. His actions are probably explained because he's hurt and ur the one who's there for him since ur best friends. Good luck i hope i helped. ;)

Do you like him? If you do then you need to consider two things: do you want it to be a long-lasting relationship and would you rather have him as a friend.

it just depends on if u also like him... its not like you're going to be with him forever but if u do decide to be with him break up with him in an understanding manner so that you two can still be friends
