i usually think of it as more of a pie....kind of.
Cheese cake is cheese cake. you really can't define it.

yes it is a cake. some of the other respondents, obviously, have only had the instant, out of a box type. but an authentic cheese cake is, in fact, baked in an oven.
but how about the Jerusalem artichoke,it's not from Jerusalem, and it's not an artichoke.

I do believe that Cheesecake would actually be technically classified as a cheese custard pie. Why they call it a cake, I have no idea....all I do know is that it's my 2nd favorite dessert (behind Key Lime Pie)

It's actually made from cream cheese, and has a graham cracker crust. Most people do consider it cake, but it does not get baked in an oven--as do most all other cakes.

yes i think cheese cake is really cake that is why they call it chesse cake...its just that the cake is really sweet and its made of real cheese.....

i wouldn't say so.
I'm not sure if they use flour or not.
