I guess if it happens that way, God will forgive you, but who's guaranteed this? Who says your death will be a somewhat peaceful one where you will have your right mind and be able to repent? A lot of deaths are instant and with no chance to repent. Even people who have a long drawn out death are not in a right state of mind to make this decision. Some people die in their sleep. The odds don't sound very good here my friend! I would say your best bet is to repent now and live your life for Jesus now. There's no guarantees and is your eternity really worth gambling on?

Of course you can.
I'm presuming your speaking of a) the Christian religion, and b) referring to whether or not you could attain salvation by repenting on your deathbed after a lifetime of sin.
The answer is yes. We Christians get that viewpoint from a thief who was crucified with Jesus, who repented while he was hanging on the cross. You can read about this in Luke 23:39-43.
The thing is, God promises us many things, but God does NOT promise us tomorrow. You could die at any point, and it would be hard to wait until you're "on your deathbed" if you died in a car crash.

You can't plan to do something like that. God knows your heart. If you were given the opportunities to repent before you arrived to your deathbed then that would be very bad for you. But if you sincerely never realized it before, and in your deathbed you had a sincere change of heart, then God will consider that.

You *could*, if you have a deathbed, I still think you'd be punished though I don't think it quite works like that. But most people die quickly and unexpectedly w/o a "deathbed" per say, so I wouldn't make a life plan based on the concept.

I was taught that as long as you repent before you die you still had a chance to make it to heaven. I'm not saying you are able to kill at will and then decide right before you die that you are sorry, but i believe everyone has a chance to get in, deathbed or not. IMHO

Yes, happened to one of the criminals that was crucified along with Jesus. That said, you'd have to hope to make it to your deathbed....what if you get into a car accident today and died instantly? You'd have no time to repent.

I wouldn't recommend waiting that long but you sure can. When Jesus was hanging on the cross the thief next to him told him to remember him when he gets to his kingdom and he was saved at the last minute so it's never too late to repent.

LOL - you gotta love that rule! i get told often that i'm going to hell because i'm a witch, but most of my christian friends tell me i live my life in a more "christian way" than most christians! but ya, these people who spend their lives in and out of jail can repent at the last moment and get into heaven. ya know what, those are not the type of people i want to spend eternity with!!!!!

nobody goes to hell except those who use the word hell to scare people.
if you feel you did something wrong(NOT SIN), then correct it when you are still alive. you should make progress, dont do it when you are on the deathbed. because you never gonna know what will reallyhappen after you die.

We are all sinners, fallen short of the glory of God.
It is faith in Christ as your Lord and Saviour that saves you...whether you do that as a child or realize it on your deathbed.
