I assume by the way you phrased your question that you poured hot water into the glass, which is lodged inside the teacup? If so, then try this: After allowing the glass and cup to reach ambient temperature, fill your sink with the hottest water available. Partially submerge only the teacup into the hot water, keeping the glass away from the hot water. The teacup ought to expand a little, allowing you to seperate the pair. If no joy, repeat the process, this time adding cold water to the glass while the teacup is partially submerged in the hot water. If still no luck, place the pair on a shelf or in your curio cabinet and call it "art". Good luck.

Try lowering the cup into a bowl of hot water. Don't let the water get into the cup, then try to gently work the glass loose. I did this once and it worked. Good luck! Don't cut yourself.

Warm dishwater is the best way to dislodge 2 cups or bowls stuck together. Remember sidewalks in the summer, with the hot tar inbetween? That's how I remember that things expand in the heat, like when you get a pickle jar open by running it under warm water.

Something like this just happened to us at work when we were packing up some glass vases. Use hot running water and puts LOTS of liquid soap all over the two objects. They should loosen up in no time flat.

If one is plastic put them in the freezer for a little while they will come apart when the plastic one shrinks a little. Both glass, then soak in the sink on there side in HOT water and they will come apart.Glass will expand and one will come loose..Don't you just hate that?I do and have for years....Don't pull hard and break on, you could get cut...

Try pouring liquid dish soap on the outside of the glass. if it oozes down into the cup, it may become slippery and release.

a few drops of cooking oil and dishsoap, perhaps. Try immersing both in hot water, and turn them upside down or sideways, maybe that will break the seal that has been created
