graffiti is an urban art and it is only a responce to wat society has created out there. i understand people can see it as an eye sore... but like all great art movements people are hesitant to accept them. What is art anyway, well it is in the eye of the beholder, but who get to choose wat belongs in a museum or not, if u think about it it really isn't fair, graffiti artist just use the city as their gallery a way to express themselves. Graffiti gives a city thheir identity, personally when i see the subway trains all plain and blank i wish they were decorated with graffiti block busters and imagine it the color and the speed it would be like a mobile gallery more tourist in New York it would just beautify the city, i mean if u hav an eye for art graffiti is beautiful no doubt, just gotta now how to use it and respect its origins.

My little town has recently exploded with graffiti. The high school was tagged and it will cost us so much money to repaint everything. It was so ugly. It is all over our town now, all the wooden fences, stores....there is no respect in many of our young people today. I love to see good art and some graffitti is beautifully done but I never want to see it related to a gang or on someone elses property.

BEFORE EVERYONE GETS ON THE PHONE TO THE POLICE , MANY WRITERS ARE RECIEVING GREAT CONTRACTS FOR MURALS IN OUR COMMUNITY , SO. CAL . BUT WE'RE FAR AHEAD OF MOST OF THE US . MANY ARTISTS HAVE FOUND THE CANVAS TO PRACTICE THE CAN . I PERSONALLY USE THE AEROSOL PAINTS ON MANY OF MY SCULPTURES & THE EFFECTS FROM AN ARTIST WITH A GOOD HAND ARE BLENDS NOE CAN'T FIND THROUGH OTHER MEDIUMS . I THINK FIRST OF ALL ONE HAS TO "GET IT" BEFORE THEY CAN ENJOY IT & MOST DON'T KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT ART IN THE FIRST PLACE . I FIND MANY OF THEMASTERS EXTREMELY BORING , BUT THEY ARE STILL WELL EXECUTED & THE SAME GOES FOR GRAFITTI , SOME IS POORLY DONE & OTHERS ARE WELL EXECUTED . POPARTIST , TP. MULLIN POPCLT.COM

As said before, if it's good, then it's art, and it can be appreciated. On the other hand, if it's purposely raunchy then it's just an eyesore. Especially if it's in a very public place.
