I have two cake mixes and they take 45 mins each to cook. If i put two cakes in the cake tin would i need to let them cook for double that time or just the same?

What would u recomend:cooking them seperately? or together then slicing them aprt? cause i intend putting a filling in the middle.
Also the instructions show a long cake tin (rectangle?) and the photo shows the cake sort of rised, i want mine flat on top would it stay flat using a round cake tin?

I wouldn't bake 2 cake mixes as one -- it wouldn't cook completely in the middle. You can bake 2 cakes in the oven at the same time, just add some (5 minutes) extra to the timer. and use the toothpick to check to make sure they are done.
All you have to do to make it flat is to cut the rounded part off. Or if you don't want to loose any cake, you have the bottom of the cake facing up and stuff in the mini marshmallows to make it even.

I mix 2 cake mixes together all the time when I am baking a huge cake. Sometimes you have to especially if you're doing a big sheet cake or a wedding cake. You will have to allow more time. I don't usually set a timer, but just watch it closely. It will probably take around an hour to cook two cake mixes.

My advice would be to turn down the temp. at least by 50-100 degrees than what the instructions say for larger cakes. This way the outside of the cake doesn't get burnt while the middle isn't done.

depending on the thickness of the cake, you will need to add 5 to 20 min.

If the thickness of the LAYER in the pan is double the thickness expected you need to reduce the oven temp 25 deg and increase the time 10 min before checking doneness.

Modifying a recipe by doubling does not double time... but in the case of baking cakes it can cause some issues in getting the center done without burning the bottom. Its better to just make more layers than to try making a thicker layer.

to make it flat you make sure that you only pour in an amount of cake batter that is smaller than the tin because it will always rise because the yeast..so if you pour in a smaller amount then it will only fill up the pan and use plenty of cooking spray so it wont stick... now only cook for 45 min because if you cook for 90 min they will burn.

if in the same pan check after the regulatd time for doneness, it may take a little longe but not much.
