You need to eat more. 5-6 small meals daily. When you are doing cardio....vary the intensity...walk/run, it gets your heart rate going and will help melt the pounds off.

UGH - plateaus are the absolute worst. You think you are doing everything right and yet the scale is a curse. I have definitely been there. You didn't mention how much weight you wanted to lose or how tall you are, but it sounds like you are guessing on calories. I will tell you two things that helped me a lot. One - you body burns about 12 calories a pound. Figure out what you want to weigh and multiply it by 12. So 120 pounds x 12 = 1440 calories a day to get to that weight. Two - Mix up your food. I was eating the same thing every day (just about) and the truth was my body was adjusted to the same boring stuff. Do not eat the same thing two days in a row. Lastly - you must eat 2 pieces of fruit a day. It will change your life. Sounds like you got the exercise part down. Add some weights. Don't give up - it took me 6 months to lose 6 pounds and it was so frustrating. BUT I just kept going and saying, well, one pound is one pound less than I weighed before....Also, don't weigh yourself more than once a week. I got super depressed if I weighed in every day.

a. At least 6 small meals daily.

b. You need more total calories. Aim for about 15 calories per pound of the ideal weight you wish to achieve. (If you want to weight 120 pounds then consume 1,800 (120*15) calories daily)

c. You've been walking the same distance for two months now. The body adapts to that stress as quickly as possible and then the only way to stimulate the body is to increase intensity. Start building it up where you are jogging one minute, walking one minute, and repeating the intervals over and over again. You will eventually build up to a point over months that you will be able to near-sprint for one minute, and jog for one minute.

d. Drink alot of water. Distilled if possible.

e. Eat only complex, low glycemic carbs like oatmeal, brown rice, yams, green vegetables, etc.

f. Eat lean protein sources like chicken and turkey. Supplement with a protein powder.

g. Omega 3's please. Flaxseed oil, sunflower oil has em. I personally add it to my protein shake. EFAs regulate your hormonal levels in your body amongst other necessarily bodily functions.

h. Lift weights. There is this phobia amongst women that lifting weights will give them this "butch" look. The fact of the matter is this. 99% of women lack the testosterone levels to develop big muscles. You need to lift weights. The muscle that it will develop will give you a toned look. And more muscle burns more calories throughout the day even while you are sitting on your couch.

Good luck to you. You can do it! Start today.

If you are only eating 1200 calories per day, every day, you must not have much weight to lose. If you consistantly eat 1200 calories per day (which is not enough) and walk 5 miles per day for one week you will lose weight if you have more than 15 lbs to lose.
