I got an email from my ex boyfriend over the weekend. We have always been good friends. Anyways, the contents of the email basically said he wanted to start new and he thought we could work. We had a couple of issues but those are resolved now and those are the only reason we broke up in the first place. This just came out of nowhere. He has been contacting me more recently but I wasn't expecting this. A little over a week ago a girl was shot only a few feet away from me. It was scary thinking it could have been me. Would that made him realize I was important to him? Well I told him about it. what would make him do this? We have been broken up for a little over 2 years and have been speaking as friends during that time.

If you are interested in trying to get back together, it sounds like it would be worth it. Since you were able to work out the issues from your past(a good thing) and you have been speaking as friends ever since, that's a good start. From your description, it sounds like he's been contacting you more recently, and not just after the shooting incident. I think he realizes the two of you may have had a good thing, and that he misses you and would like to have a fresh start.

Hearing about someone being shot right by you could have made him realize how much he really cares for you. It could also be that he has been thinking about it for awhile and really misses being with you. If you want to know exactly what made him start feeling this way you should ask him about it. He is the only one who will be able to give you the right answer.

You should ask him all these questions and get a straight answer.
