of course you're going to get "makes jack a dull boy" because this originated from Stanley Kubrick's take on Stephen King's "The Shining", starring Jack Nicholson in one of his greatest and most epic roles to date. I think that it should not be open to suggestion, otherwise ruining for me what has been one of the best thrillers in the history of film.
