Christianity worked very hard to eradicate goddess worship, to reinforce the idea of patriarchal society, and to keep women in line and "in their place." On the whole, I think they got the short end of the stick with it.

The Bible said a woman committed the original sin, which is why during the Middle Ages when everyone was fanatically Christian, there was so much misogyny.
