An accidental swallowing of gum is NOT gonna hurt you.
However, I know someone who used to routinely swallow gum...
...he "ate"(yes, swallowed) a whole BAG of Bazooka Bubble gum one morning at work. Called me later that evening to say he was in "hell"!!!! Trying to have a bowel movement and was extremely difficult; would hardly come out. When he went to "wipe", it was pure, pink bubble gum on the toilet paper. The gum was pink bubble gum was sticking to the hairs on his butt, sticking to the toilet paper.................quite the mess. He was quite uncomfortable for about 16 hours he said; til most of that bubble gum worked it's way out. But each and every bowel movement was like "delivering a BOWLING BALL" he said!!!!!

Nothing. The whole "it takes years to digest" thing is crap. I swallow my gum every now and then if I'm somewhere that I can't spit it out.
