Hi,
I joined about 7 mother and baby groups with my son from 6 months old and attending them made a world of difference. My son became very confident around other children and I had a good break from staying at home, and made some friends.
I've checked out all the main groups in my town now, but they can be very hard to find out about! Mostly because everyone online is searching, and there's few well-publicised resources.
ONLINE BABY & TODDLER GROUP RESOURCES
Check out netmums.com. You have to sign up, but there are listings of toddler groups for different UK postcodes. Just a little tricky to find, but use the top navigation bar to go to baby/toddler sections.
If they don't have enough choice, you could look for a site called 'family grapevine'. (However I can't find one just for Plymouth). They have printed newsletters that they distribute to local councils in many towns, and have just launched an online version.
You could see if your local council has listings on its website. Some do.
Finally, there's a new site called babytoddler.org that is being launched in April 2007. It will list just baby and toddler groups across the UK, making it easy to search for them in one place. You can sign up to the waiting list for that site which could be good for future searches, but you're better with netmums for now.
OFFLINE METHODS OF FINDING GROUPS:
As someone mentioned already, you can ask your health visitor.
You could ask mums you pass in the street who also have babies or toddlers if they can recommend a group. I know I'd be happy to help if someone stopped me like this, but I've always been too shy to approach ;)
--------
Good luck and enjoy your new groups :)

Don't know any in your area but your best bet is to go to your doctors surgery & speak to the health visitor, she'll know all the places that hold them. Probably be notices on the wall there too giving info. She'll also be able to give you names of playgroups / nurserys for when your little ones 2yrs 9months...... get your name on the waiting lists early! x

you may desire to continually leave/bypass along with your new child at/to a acquaintances abode who replaced into at abode all day and had an different new child around the comparable age. this may well be greater effective than mom and infants because of the fact your new child may well be greater cared because of the fact he/she would be able to be closer to the carer. in case you do no longer opt for to be recommend then you certainly could desire to pay your buddy a small quantity of money no longer as much as day care. i wish this facilitates!

Have you tried the netmums website - I think its just netmums.co.uk
You can put your area in and it will tell you whats on.....also, tumbletots.com will tell you if there are sessions in your area.
A lot of churches do mums and tots too but these tend to be a bit cliquey in my opinion........
