Imagine you got hit by a car and could be saved only by a special operation. The operation would give you a normal, happy life, but would unfortunately cause you fifteen minutes of terrible, stabbing pain every morning when you awoke. Would you want to have the operation?

I had to make a similar choice, and well, right now I'm having one of these pain episodes.
However in my case it was a choice between less pain and more pain. So well, in my case I made the right choice, but in that hypothetical situation, I would chose death, as I have no real regrets.
