The Qur'an stating that one can not take Jews and christians as friends because of their unbelief.
when the bible itself says:
2 Corinthians 6:14-15: "Do not be yoked together with unbelievers. For what do righteousness and wickedness have in common? Or what fellowship can light have with darkness? What harmony is there between Christ and Belial? What does a believer have in common with an unbeliever?"
Islam advocating warfare in certain situations. When the bible itself clearly shows that God commanded war in certain situations.
The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) marrying a 9 year old. When Moses according to the Bible commanded to kill all the Madianite women and save the girls who never slept with men for themselves.

Also the idea of Islam advocating "fanaticism" when Jesus is recorded saying:
"Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. For I came to set a man against his father, and a daughter against her mother, and a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law; and a man’s enemies will be the members of his household. He who loves father or mother more than Me is not worthy of Me; and he who loves son or daughter more than Me is not worthy of Me. And he who does not take his cross and follow after Me is not worthy of Me. He who has found his life will lose it, and he who has lost his life for My sake will find it." (Matthew 10:34-39 NASB)

I want to make it clear that i dont think all christians criticize these facts, and most likely not even most, but i hear it from a lot that I come across as being used as "evidence" for why Islam is false.

beta fishy, there is a difference btween being friends with someone and 'tolerating' someone. Islam promotes tolerance for non-muslims who are not hostile against Islam:
"Allah does not forbid you to deal justly and kindly with those who fought not against you on account of religion and did not drive you out of your homes. Verily, Allah loves those who deal with equity." [Quran 60:8]

Dee, there is a difference between not taking individuals as friends because of their disbelief, and actually "compelling them to believe". Am I forcing you to become Muslim simply because i do not take you as a close friend?
There is also a differnece between taxing a person in exchange for their protection and actually forcing them to accept your faith.
I am not discussing 'non-muslim' countries; i am simply discussing the issues christians seem to have with not accepting the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) as a Messenger of God.

I am curious, to all those christians who say that the verse in corinthians refers specifically to marriage or business dealings, what is your proof?
The word yoke simply means to join. And as far as i understand, friendship can be a form of joining with unbelievers. And also later down in the verse it says:
"Therefore come out from them
and be separate, says the Lord.
"
How can someone be separate from unbelievers if he is taking them as friends?

As for not being friends with Christians and Jews, I'm afraid you are mistaken. Why can't Muslims not be friends with Christians and Jews when the Muslim men can Christian and Jewish women? What, marriage without friendship? What about the in-laws, is the Muslim man not allowed to make friendship with his non-Muslim in-laws and their friends? What is the Muslim man to do when the family has a get-together and he's invited? What then, is he to be a stick-in-the-mud and not go? Or should he go, but be a sourpuss and stay by himself in the corner?
Of course not. Muslims are not to accept Christians and Jews as their of any kind, but friendships are fine.

Because in one verse it will say do not take us as your friends then in another verse it will say that there is no compulsion of religion. These are contradictions.
Most importantly, all while saying that there is no compulsion of religion you have Islamic dominated countries discriminating against non-Muslims by either taxing them, or outright not allowing them to openly practice their religion, good example Saudi Arabia. While in non-Muslim dominated countries (mainly the west) you are free to practice the religion of your choice or not practice any religion at all.
So, when the Qu'ran says two different things we view it as a contradiction.
This is how many of us (not all) view things.
Oh and these are not the main reasons why we know Islam is false.
Jesus Christ IS Lord!

You forgot human rights
Deu 20:16 Whenever you capture towns in the land the LORD your God is giving you, be sure to kill all the people and animals.
Deu 20:10 Before you attack a town that is far from your land, offer peace to the people who live there. If they surrender and open their town gates, they will become your slaves. But if they reject your offer of peace and try to fight, surround their town and attack. Then, after the LORD helps you capture it, kill all the men. Take the women and children as slaves and keep the livestock and everything else of value.
Polygamy is allowed
Gen 30:26 You know how hard I've worked for you, so let me take my wives and children and leave."
women are inferior
1Co 11:3 Now I want you to know that Christ is the head over all men, and a man is the head over a woman. But God is the head over Christ.

I agree with san_ann68.
Also regarding Matt 10:34-39, I don't believe that this passage is Jesus advocating that Christians should START wars. But it is a warning that some non-believers will want to start wars against us. The overall message of the Bible is that of peace, love and unity. But this particular passage is saying that Jesus is acknowledging that not everyone will believe that message is the truth. He doesn't want us to be a bunch of pushovers. We need to be prepared to fight to defend ourselves against those who come against us. Because if we won't fight for what we believe in, then we never wholeheartedly believed it in the first place, If we never really believed it, then there never was a place in heaven for us.

1) yolked speaks of marriage, not friendship. Thing is, as a Christian, our lives are supposed to influence people around us. But if we marry one who doesn't share our faith, it could affect our beliefs, or our children's, or simply create conflict.
bad company corrupts good character, but we have to show our love anyway. Don't mimick your friends, let them mimick you.
2) what are you talking about? Those girls were engrafted into Hebrew society so they'd grow up righteously. Many of the nations Israel battled had no problem with prostitution or adultery, both of which God has a problem with.
3) We acknowledge what Jesus said. He didn't come to bring physical peace; as He knew people would fight over Him and matters concerning Him, He knew Human nature; but He allowed the Holy Spirit to come, which gives us spiritual/peace of mind type of peace.
no offense, but these aren't facts. the Qu'ran and Bible are a lot different than you think....

I just bought a Quran with the hope to figure some of this out for myself.
The 'yoked' isn't referring to having friends, but having unions, such as marrying - tied together. I am called as a Christian to be engaged in the world - 'in the world, not of the world'.
I feel that Jesus calls me to be a friend to believers and un-believers.
I don't know enough about Muhammad to say anything pro or con.
peace to you.

Ridiculous "question".
The Bible verse is talking about MARRIAGE. There's a big difference between counsel to 1) marry someone of the same faith and 2) refuse to be friends with (i.e. tolerate) anyone of a different faith.

We must love each other, remember, even our enemies God teaches us so. The 2nd Corinthians is talking about marriage if I remember well...I pray for all human beings to be able to see the Light and to choose it; dark's power are weak, because Jesus Christ came in this world and died for all the sins...May God be with us all!

Many Christians and most Jews, worship a false God, but because that love Mammon more then God, the Father, which is in heaven, He has closed their eyes and ears.
They love mammon so much thet have given it a new name, Free Enterprise, Globalization and Capitalism. Once a child of this false god said, "Greed is good"

Allah is an old Babylonian god...not the same as the God in the Bible.
Christians are not to make war on unbelievers (this "convert or die" nonsense). But we are to tell people about Christ.
Our battle is spiritual, not physical.
