Your question is flawed. Down syndrome is not an illness. It is a genetic anomaly.

My son has Down syndrome and I beleive God created him just as he is, a wonderful, bright, curious little boy who will go to school, graduate, get a job, perhaps drive, perhaps marry, etc. He was created in God's image just as anyone else.

The "defect" is so-called normal people who refuse to accept someone who is born differently as an equal.

Mental illness is just that: an illness. It is not created by God and it is not the fault of a person to have it. It is nature that is not always perfect. On the other hand a person with a mental illness can be of great value, with her presence, to society, to remind us that all of us have limits, none of us is truly 100% mentally perfect and stable.

I think all of us may suffer from a mental illness occasionally. I'm not just speaking for myself. Changes in job, circumstances, relationships and family play a big part in how we feel.
I was fine until I got married and look at me now! I think mental illness can be created by circumstances just as well.
My advice to anyone going through mental illness is to seek counseling. Pray to God each day that we are fortunate to stay in good health and that he will help those going through mental disorders. He loves us all the same.

You are atlking about minor defects, we do not believe God did that because it is proven what cause thos edefects.
However, we believe that God allows it because of His loving Will, He loves everyone, no matter how many phisicla or internal defects one person can have.
