Your question makes no sense. What's so special about Sunday (I assume that's the day you're talking about)? It's just another day.

I agree that whatever day you choose as your sabbath should be kept holy. But first of all, the Bible does not specify what day of the week is the sabath. After all pastors do not take their sabath on sundays. I assume that you are a strict follower of the sabbath. Does that mean that you do not go out to eat or to stores on sundays? After all -the Bible also says that we are not to make others serve us on the Lord's day. I agree that sports should not interfere with worship - whatever day of the week that is. Also, show me a mom ANYWHERE that ever gets a day completely off from some sort of work. Babies diapers need changed -no matter what day it is. We need to be careful not to become like the Pharisees that questioned Jesus healing on the sabbath. Judging others because of our own interpretations of the law. Are any of us truely able to fulfill the law - NO- that's why we need Jesus. Have you ever attended a potluck or church dinner after worship - somebody somewhere had to do the cooking, set up and clean up. Remember - what I see as work you may not and vice versa. So as long as sports are not taking the place of church and sunday school - I don't see the problem. And remember that many churches have wednesday night services to help address the needs of those with sunday work schedules. Since I usually attend 2 services a week and a weekly bible study I guess that I am hyper sensitive with someone telling me that my child shouldn't pursue sports. I can put God first and still allow my child to have the joy that God intended her to have.

I think you're confusing Christianity with Judaism.
Some Jews strictly follow the Sabbath (Saturday) when no work must be carried out.
The New Testament says:: In Colossians 2:16 Paul writes: "Therefore let no man judge you in eating and drinking or in respect of a festival or of an observance of the new moon or of the sabbath".
Anyway, I'm pretty sure there's big difference between 'playing' sports and work!

Ok lest unpack this question.
1st. How can you Assume which is the "Lord's day?"
The Adventists celebrate Saturday as the "Lord's day".
2nd. Why would sport be against the spirit of christianity?
It is SUPPOSED to teach us how to win and also how to lose.
It is Suppposed to teach us how to treat each other fairly.
It is supposed to make us fit and healthy.
Instead more often we frail humans use it as a weapon against one another, injure one another.
I think the real problem is with human nature, not with sport.
Hey you should go out to special sports days, where kids with disabilities partake. That is really humbling.

I have been really suprised by the amount of Sports activities. That is practices and games that occur not only on Sunday but also during times when people usually go to church.
There is nothing wrong about allowing your kids participate in these sports. Simply, do not allow them to go the practices or games that occur during church.
I do not have a problem with them attending other games/pracitices as long as it does not interfere with their or my own Church activities.

Good point. However, many sports activities don't take place on Sunday. I played soccer for many years, and I only had to miss a handful of Sunday games. Most of them were on Saturday. Of course things may be different now...

Because Christians are humans just like everyone else, not robots. Our kids like sports just like all kids. My kids don't have sports on Our Lord's day. We go to church and spend the day with family.

Well in Kansas, we do have some sports on Saturday, but none on Sunday unless its a tournament. We are only supposed to REST on Sunday, no one said we could not play sports.
I absolutely support my child, my grandchildren and any one else participating in sports...it builds character and teaches teamwork. (PS...GO KU JAYHAWKS)
