I went on a date with this guy over the weekend. I've hung out with him a couple times but this is the first we got to be alone and talk. He says he's looking for a serious relationship and I guess he's ready for marriage. He's 29 so I guess he is. But would you tell the guy/girl that on the first date??

i think its okay if he says that , maybe he is just trying to be crystal clear about not wanting to have a casual relationship , however u should be carefull the future will let u know if this was really his motivation or .. just a line he said to make u feel secure , i wish u the best , good luck

I don't recommend saying that unless you want to scare the person off, unless you've known each other for a while/pretty well... after hanging out a few times, and then one date, that's coming on fairly strong, I think. If it were me, I'd be telling the guy to take it easy, give it some time to get to know each other better before making any serious commitments - or if I already knew I wasn't interested in possibly settling down soon, say sorry, and find another guy.

Yeah, I'd tell the girl on the first dat if I was in a hurry to tie a knot and start a family.
This guy seems to be seriously mate shopping, and probably wants to weed out the casual daters from women seriously shopping for compatible spouses.
Sort of takes the romance out of the hunt, but the older you get, the less romance influences your decisions.

well i mean if you've been through all the women and been through many relationships, you become more experienced and know that waiting isn't the best answer because you've waited all your lifeto find the right person.

he might have felt a connection between you and him that night which is why he asked you.

even though it seems weird and uncomfortable for being to early, you shouldn't let him wait and then the answer is no. but if he is a good guy and everything, take the chance. you don't live forever to wait and find out.

I asked my husband BEFORE our first date if he knew what he was looking for. His answer was amazing to me. Apparently I was exactly what he was looking for...3 months later we were engaged and married 6 months later.

He just wants to know if you are looking for the same thing...if not then you should both move on.

He didn't ask you to marry him, he just said he was looking for a serious relationship.
