This is how we do it in the salon.

Wash your hair with a really good shampoo and conditioner.
I recommend L'oreal Professional intense repair, this with help with the existing damage. Yes it's more expensive (about $30 - $40 for both) but if used right it will last you 2-3 times longer than a store brand.

If your flat-iron is not ionic dry your hair 100% if it is remove about 85% of the moisture with your blowdryer.

Apply your thermal protectant evenly throughout your hair. and flat-iron. I recommend L'oreal professional Serum about $26, should last if used right 3-4 months.

Washing tips: If your hair doesn't get oily only wash every 2 -3 days. This helps your hair stay healthy....and you only have to do touch-ups with the flat-iron for 2 days instead of a full.

Also if you have long hair comb out with a wide tooth comb after washing instead of a brush to reduce breakage.

Good luck

you may try this trick: when finish showerig dry ur hair witha towel untill it's only damp but not wet ( if it's harder to comb it if it's dry then dun't but it'll make the process longer), make sure u have hair clips with u, then flip all of ur hair around ur scalp ( let's say we'll begin from right to left) and clip, then put a dry towel on it and fix it so it presses on ur hair along with its orientation (right to left). now u should leave it untill it drys completely ( yes the process may take from 2 to 5 hours, depends on ur hair length)
Now when the hair drys, flip it the same way but the oppisit dirction ( left the right) and apply the twol, make sure it's still dry if not change it. This time we're not drying the hair, we're giving shine and flexibility. If ur hair is REALLY curly it may look as it was straitned but perefectly, but now that ur hair is dry, and flexible when u straighten it, it's have the natural look of a shiny straight hair, and the color would show more. When i do this process, my hair actually moves all around and it's live.

well since it's a long process u can do it on sundays (before school) or when u have night events or hanging out in the evenging with freinds or ona date for good impression.

I hope I helped, dun forget to condition ur hair, and brush it well b4 the bath. Also u can use hair serums, and thermal products to protect ur hair from loosing all it' s moisture. Good Luck! ;)

hey ok da q is wen u straighten ur hair do u put hair oil on it will ur straightin it or no?
cuz either way it ok but if u want to get it done quicktyme straighten it wen itz dry. if u do the other way it would be nice and oil depends if u want ur hair to be oily.
seems daz ur case

also it helps if u strightin it in small pieces. might take onger but it works best.

also the straighten u use.... is the plate thin or wide. cuz if its wider its way better because u can put lots of hair into it and it works well styll.

try using baby oil wen u strighten it works well. also u might think wtf but u can also use vaseline not toooo much mind u but juss a lil to give it a shine plus iz not as oily as hair oil.

i dont noe if u use hair oil, but im black and i do but some races cant use it beacuse it will make their hair all stingy. so dat depends how thick ur hair is

hope dat helped

I straighten my hair often as well but it can be really damaging.
Don't wash your hair everyday and that will help. I usually only shampoo my hair twice a week. When I blow out my hair and straighten it, I try to leave it for as many days as possible...usually about three. It always looks better on the second day anyway. Hope that helps.

Why don't you try leaving it curly more often so that it gets a break?
