THEY DO BELIEVE in Jesus, so that is not a legitimate reason... That is a lie in itself...

Looking for honest responses.

Zoe. I can respect your response. I know we are all living in this whirlwind, myself included. I have even gotten embarrased a few times when I was caught in my bath robe or maybe just not having a good day... But I know they are spending their own time not getting paid to do it. They are just doing what Jesus said to do. "I for one am very greatful for Jehovah's patience with me." And I long for the day when I am right with GOD.
I am so imperfect what can I say? I am humbled just thinking of your response.

r&s mom, I too understand and respect your comment.
The change even makes me think these things too point to it being guided by the TRUE GOD... I did not post this to pick at anyone. I just am interested in others feelings about this... We all live and learn.. And I know I have much room for improvement, but I don't want to stay blinded to please only myself. Thanks everyone...

Godless: Although I am still learning about the blood issue many people worlwide have turned to what has been found by scientists now as bloodless alternatives. Many people non-witness , are now taking this option because anyone can donate blodd carrying HIV, Hepatitus, and other diseases... These ywo are not cureable... A drug addict can go donate blood just to have enough to get his next high. Check into the alternatives. You never know when you may need them. Ignorance is NOT bliss.

"To all of you who took the time to answer my question, I thank you for it."

"Suga" I hope you go back and take the time to read my entire post... I know it was long, I left you a message on one of your questions... Thank you...

"Drake" I too appreciate your reply, I know that took a lot of time to do... How ever I do not agree with you on many of your claims.. I read over and over in the Bible Jesus saying He does not come on His own will, "But the will of HIS FATHERS who is in the Heavens." When he prays, He does not pray to himslef, He prays to HIS FATHER.
He also states something very key, "No one knows on the hour it will come, not even Him, ONLY THE FATHER who is in the HEAVENS. "I have very many valid reasons for trusting GOD will see me through. " My entent is not to cast doubt on anyone else, only to understand why so many dislike what Witneses do. "WE are all in this world trying to find our way." Some of us more concerned than others. Free will of choice♥

Achtung: Thank you for the information as well... I have lots to learn and wont give up on Jehovah, because I know Jehovah wont give up on me. And for the record, I have learned just what Jesus has done for me... And I love Jesus, he is and was GODS son. How gut wrenching to watch your own Son suffer as Jehovah saw his suffer then die, no matter if he even did make him rise... Because Jesus is the perfect Adam, I now and my children have a hope of life in perfect conditions...
Thank all of you again... Deeply. ♥

Thank you for the question. I hope people answer honestly as to why they hate us so much.

Matthew 28:19,20 states to go therefore and make disciples of peoples of all the nations.

Correction: We do believe in Jesus

The whole Christmas thing: We don't have to tell out kids to "wait until Christmas" or "wait until your birthday" to shower them with love and gifts. When I was a kid, I got things when I wanted - when my parents could. I didn't have to wait on a pagan holiday to get goodies for myself - instead of reflecting on what it's supposed to be about anyway - Jesus!

They have strayed from the essentials of Christianity. They deny the cardinal beliefs of historical Christianity including the trinity, the divinty if Christ, His bodily resurrection, salvation by grace through faith, and eternal punishment of the wicked.
The New World Translation used by the followers of the teachings of Charles Taze Russell has been translated with many distortions and grammatical errors which alter the sense of the original manuscripts in order to fit the theology purported by Pastor Russell

By translating the last part of John 1;1 as, "The Word was a god," the Watchtower has declared its belief in Polytheism, or the belief in more than one God. According to the whole testimony of the bible, the Word (Jesus Christ) of John 1:1 must be either the one true God, Jehovah, or a false god. The bible only knows one true God. Jehovah.

By eliminating the definitive article 'the' the translators are showing an inconsistency in translation. In order for their translation to be rendered consistently correct verse six would be read, "There arose a man that was sent forth as a representative of a god." Moreover verse twelve would be read, "to become a god's children." Why only in verse one is it translated with the definitive article? There is no reason why the correct rendering of "God," should be translated as "a god."

It is a biased rendering that cannot be justified grammatically.

A cult is a perversion, a distortion of biblical Christianity, and as such rejects the historic teachings of Jesus Christ.

The Jehovah's Witness' church meets all the criteria of a cult.

If it looks like a duck, talks like a duck, walks like a duck...probably a duck!!!!

It is true that Jehovah's Witnesses are not loved by everyone.
http://jw-media.org/newsroom/human_rights.htm
Some people hate Jehovah's Witnesses out of ignorance, or over some misunderstanding. A few may have had a bad personal experience with an individual who claimed to be a Jehovah's Witness, and prejudicially extended their animus to this entire Christian religion.

However, it seems that the majority of anti-Witness hatred is motivated by religious intolerance and bigotry. A few may even be motivated against their Christian worship by the unseen 'god of this system of things', Satan the Devil.

(2 Corinthians 4:4) the god of this system of things has blinded the minds of the unbelievers

Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:

(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.

(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

Well, that depends on your definition of "bash." I don't bash someone for sincerely held beliefs, but I, like the Jehovah's Witnesses, will testify about truth versus error.

The Jehovah's Witness doctrine is so far beyond the true Gospel, that it demands Christians to "witness" to them about the errors.

The Watchtower (or Watch Tower) Bible & Tract Society states that they are the only vessel approved by God for disseminating true doctrine. (Watchtower, 4/1/1919, pg. 6414) I find that just a tad arrogant.

They demand a works based salvation, and deny the deity of Christ. This is heresy. (Not bashing here, but stating an informed opinion.)

Here's another reason why I think the Watchtower (or Watch Tower) Bible & Tract Society is a false prophet. According to Deuteronomy 18:20-22, if a message that is claimed to have come from Jehovah doesn't come to pass, we are not to listen to that prophet. (Later, it says to stone them, but I digress...)

It is written: "God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?"

If that is the case, then the Watchtower (or Watch Tower) Bible & Tract Society has blown it, and we should no longer listen to them.

Here's an example:

Christmas:

"It is quite immaterial the day Christmas is celebrated; we may properly join." (Watchtower 12/15/1903, page 3290)

"Don't quibble about the date; join in with the world and celebrate Christmas." (Watchtower 12/1/1904, page 3468)

This thinking went on until a change of heart:

"Jesus was not born on December 25th...Hence, celebrating his birthday through Christmas observance on December 25 is totally inappropriate for those guided by the Holy Scriptures." (Watchtower 12/15/1979, page 5)

I could go on with many, many other examples of a changed mind regarding the Watchtower Society, but that alone (according to the Scriptures) should be enough to turn us away.

It might be something to do with the way they dress and act like salespeople. You can't take salespersons seriously. Salespersons and JWs are the only people who cold call at my door. I don't make the distinction. JWs ARE salespeople so I will treat them the same way.

And if I want to find out about all things JW, I will GO AND FIND OUT. I do not need or want anybody knocking on my door and disturbing my day on the negligible offchance that I would be interested.

They call round either interrupting my family time when we are sitting down and trying to enjoy dinner, or else early on Saturday morning which means either they are waking me up or it's coitus interruptus. Just how do they expect to be well recieved in either of those circumstances ?

Religion is always a touchy topic, and if you want to change someone's beliefs...it is hard. People are told to believe in God in a certain way, and if someone knocks at the door to tell this or that that goes against what they thought, there is always a discussion or even a fight.

Their views are very confusing to many. I am not sure it would be called bashing. They claim that Jesus was not divine, that Jesus was created and is the archangel Michael. They see him as a creator of the universe yet the Jehovah's Witnesses understanding of Jesus would be very different from a Christian understanding of him.

They don't believe in birthdays?

2007-03-12 04:54:59 · answer #7 · answered by Marg 2 · 1 2

depends what you mean by 'bash'. If you mean 'say they're wrong', well, aren't I entitled to say they're wrong if I think so? And if I'm Christian, and think they are not Christian, and are in serious spiritual peril, aren't I entitled to say so?

If by bashing you mean something stronger, it is sometimes difficult to draw the line between correcting those in error and getting aggressive. JWs say very negative things about Christians, and about the Church. I don't doubt their sincerity. If a Christian goes beyond correction then he/she might be in danger of acting incorrectly. That would be a mistake.

St Paul speaks of those who have zeal without knowledge. as a Christian I can praise the zeal of the JWs but correct their lack of knowledge. I have to avoid myself acting with zeal but not knowledge - or love - in my dealings with them.

We "bash" JWs because they preach heresies. The WBTS also lies to its followers in order to cover the heresies and inaccuracies. Here's only two examples:

Per the WBTS, Dana and Mantey's "A Manual Grammar of the Greek New Testament" supports its position that John 1:1 is properly translated as "the Word was a god" : http://blueletterbible.org/study/cults/exposejw/expose43.pdf

When Mr. Mantey found out about this assertion, he wrote a letter that shows his obvious rage at this lie: http://blueletterbible.org/study/cults/exposejw/expose44.pdf

The WBTS also did this with noted scholar Westcott regarding his translation of John 1:1 : http://blueletterbible.org/study/cults/exposejw/expose45.pdf

But when you look at what Westcott actually wrote, the WBTS' lie becomes apparant: http://blueletterbible.org/study/cults/exposejw/expose46.pdf

In my opinion Jehovah's Witnesses are better than they used to be. I'm a Christian but they used to be very pushy- they would come to your house and ask to come in. Of course now-a-days you can't really do that. People are frightened to let strangers into their house. I have had women come up to me in the Wal-Mart parking lot and simply say hello and give me a tract. Or people come to the house a leave a booklet in the mail -box etc. This approach works much better than them trying to come into the house and sit for a long time
