Funny isn't it how those who claim to be protecting children get all worried by those who take a different angle in protecting kids based on things like reality.


You know the one where most teenagers get drunk, try dope, get laid... Sex drugs/drink and rock and roll just like their parents did.

And go to ibiza etc to get as drunk and stoned as possible and have sex with as many as pobble, embarrasing the country etc etc..


Then all grow out of it, turn into these lying parents who pretend nobody does that and anyone who tells the truth must be a peado or stange etc.

And thinking PERSON BEING OF THE REAL WORLD having been hurt but parental lies by being held back must be the threat to their kids simply as they cant stomach people to tell it as it is.

Yet is it not hypothetically strange that when presented with evidence showing that those responsible for ideas like no sex before marriage and other puritanical morality are generally the ones who do the most confirmed,

by evidence abuse sexaully, emotionally, and physically of children and young women?

on huge scales with the support of the community.

Jesus that's not a question that's a debate, it should have it's own ISBN. My answer, speak for yourself, I expected my children to try drink, that's why I ensured they tried it under my supervision so they knew what the effects were. I expected them to have sex, that's why I prefered if they brought their boyfriend here so if things got out of hand and they wanted to stop we were on hand. Dope, we're not big on, it made me extremely ill. I think telling them my one pathetic experience probably put them off that. Interesting neither of them has been to ibiza though we live very near there.

I could be wrong but I suspect you aren't a parent yourself yet. Don't make judgements about things you don't have experience off.

You assume all parents have tried drugs and you'd be wrong by a long way.

Also it is quite sensible of parents if they got drunk when celebrating an 18th or 21st to warn their children of the painful consequences the next day.

The weakest point of your argument(I have not visited the links) is that 40 years ago there was a lot less money about, a lot less drugs(especially the designer types like Ecstasy) and pubs and clubs were not generally open beyond 11pm and not at all on Sunday's.

Um... I think you should just stick to one point if you plan to ask. But to tell you the truth, what you have to say about this topic actually does have its points, unfortunately, it'd be better placed in a blog than in the form of a question.

I could try to answer it to the best of my abilities. It is quite normal for a lot of parents to get overprotective when their kids reach a certain age. Because they'd been there, they now know the reason why their parents had become strict with them at that period in their life. However, its how they deal with the situation that makes the difference. Society isn't as it used to be. Kids nowadays have more opportunity to get themselves in trouble than it used to be. But on a more positive note, a lot more kids have become more aware of the consequences of acquiring a bad habit such as smoking, drinking, and getting high on drugs. Moreover, with the ongoing info-campaigns, kids are forced to become aware, to take charge and be responsible for all of their actions.

I think you are trying to Judge everyone by some bad examples of Parents (possibly your own) Not every parent went through the things you are talking about. We all have a Choice in Life and it is up to each individual how they Live it. It is a parents place to discipline their children for the wrong they do in Life until they are grown and leave home. "Most" parents only want the best for their children in Life.
