... either Online or sporting good stores

Most of us here really do NOT recommend going to any cheap mass retailer like Walmart, Kmart, Sears, Target, etc. and be careful about any "sporting goods" stores... these places sell very cheaply made bikes that do not hold up to ANY abuse and are put together by people who don't know what they are doing...

it is ALWAYS better to go to your local bike shop and spend a few dollars more for something sturdy and reliable with expert assembly and service...

check out brands such as KHS, Trek, Specialized, and Giant

Don't bother going anywhere but a REAL bike shop. Department stores and Wal-Marts of the world do not sell bicycles, they sell heavy, cheap, poorly built copies of something that vaguely resembles a bicycle.

if you buy a cheap bike, DO NOT come posting in here asking how to straighten a bent wheel, fix your shifting, patch your tube or lube your chain, because everything you do to a department store bike is only turd polishing anyway.
