I would look on line for the years on the 30's and 40's which is the Art Deco Period. Go to Brittanica.com and find out all you can about styles and manners of that period. There you will kind of get an idea about how to duplicate that era. The attire would be a wedding gown made of satin silk, very sleek and simple with a very long train and flounce hem cut on a bias. Men would be dressed very formal with possibly tie and tails. Pinstripe, vest and tails in Charcoal or Black. Take a look at the old movies of Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers and see how they are dressed, and you will see the 30's and early 40's. Band would be a complete band but the music would be very lovely with alot of standards. But check out Borders or the library and find out more info on that unique period in our history. Best of Luck

I think the key word is 'feminine'.
Bias cut fabrics and the halterneck and cowl neck were popular in the 30s, and dresses were very slinky, made out of materials such as lamé, silk and satin (though artificial materials were available). 40s hair was curled, highly coiffed, looking very polished. Bright red lipstick, peeptoe shoes. 40s wedding clothes were probably tea length dresses (as many couldn't afford evening dresses because of the war).
The band should probably play swing and artists such as Glen Miller, Bing Crosby, Duke Ellington, all FANTASTIC artists.
Venue-a building built in the 1930s (Art Deco) or 1940s-there should be many of these around.

If you have a look at Christina Aquilera's style recently or Dita Von Teese, they both have a certain 30's aura about them!!! Or look at the film the Aviator that will give you lots of cool ideas. Cool ideas btw never would have thought of a themed wedding on 0's! Good luck!!xx

go to www.1940.co.uk
they sell books about this time.
Swing bands and glen miller bands are good
England has lots of old buildings should be too hard to find one.
The pigalle club in London is great for the reception, they have swing bands and burlesque too.
Or an old social hall with streamers, a swing band or glen miller CD and tea dresses and demob suits or forces uniforms.
Camden market and places like that can help with clothes and decorations
