There is nothing wrong with doing Cardio and Weights on the same day. The magazines just need to fill space with a bunch of fluff to sell thier advertising... So they tell you something and then 6 months later tell you that the latest research shows you should do the opposite what they told you six months ago.

There are a few reasons why this is often recommended. In cases where a person wants to build the maximum amount of muscle during their workout, cardio activity can take away energy that would normally be used by the body to push an extra set or a heavier amount of weight. It can also cause the body to go into caloric deficit which may be somewhat counter-productive when trying to build muscle.

I've read that you should do cardio first then weights on the same day, one after the other. some people prefer to do weights first, but nowhere have I read that you should alternate days.

It's because you can't really concentrate all your focus into one....if you're putting all your effort into weights you get more out of it/same thing for cardio. Otherwise, you split your time/focus between the two...thus making it less effective.

This really only holds true if you're working to gain muscle....to lose weight it shouldn't be a problem.

It depends on what you want, I supose that since you are female you will like a slim fit, so the answer to that is yes! but first do weights and then cardio, you'll burn twice the calories and you will be fit.

Don't believe everything you read. It's like the news, one day coffee slows the aging process, and the next day it hastens cancer cell development.

I do cardio after lifting weights all the time.

Don't believe everything you read.. even my yahoo answer!!. Experiment. If it works for you, then fine. I train cardio and weights daily. 30 min. cardio/then one major bodypart and a minor body part. Works for me. I'm 53 and have worked out since my teens. good luck!

I think that is a farce, most gyms set a plan that includes cardio and weights.

It is probably recommended in order to keep people from getting bored with their workout. But if it suits your schedule, by all means, go for it!
