My sister has had severe headaches for over a year now and the doctors have done test after test. After her last MRI they said that she had calcification on the imangioma of her brain. They said it is about 8-9mm.

Calcifications in the brain are typically benign and are a normal process of aging. Blood vessels with calcification can indicate atherosclerotic disease. Dense calcifications in the deeper parts of the brain may suggest a problem with metabolism such as hyperparathyroidism. Usually, hemangiomas or venous angiomas with some slight calcification suggest that they have been there for a long, long time and are unlikely to grow, expand, or rupture.

Also, severe headaches for a year are unlikely to be caused by an intracranial mass and are more likely poorly controlled migraine or cervicogenic headaches. Seeing a neurologist who specializes in the treatment of headaches would probably be helpful.

Good luck!

Not necessarily- but that doesn't mean the two are mutually exclusive.

Good luck to your sister!
