There's no rush at 30. Biologically, 45-50 is when you start having issues. As far as lifestyle, 25-35 would be the best age to have a kid. A lot of people who do it younger aren't financially ready, nor ready to be tied down for 18+ years. Doing it much older and you find yourself dealing with a teenager when you are a senior citizen.

I had my son three weeks before my 43rd birthday. That's not how I planned it, but it's been wonderful. My husband and I had been married for 15 years when our son finally came. We are more emotionally and financially secure than we were in our 20s. I will be 61 when he graduates high school. I wish I could have started earlier, and had four children, but we are very thankful for our son. Our son is well loved and taken care of, and the 3 of us have a great life. And no, 30 is definitely not too old!!

my parents were 40 when i was born. I know they loved me very much and i loved them, i often felt that they didn't understand me, because of the age difference... If that is true or if it was 'normal' growing up feelings, how would i know??? I just know that i was the OUTCAST growing up, cause i was the one walking around in 'old' clothes... that means partially hand me downs, but what i mean is 'old fashioned' clothes... i was the only one in my school that didn't OWN one single pair of Jeans... My mom would buy my clothes, lay out what i had to wear, she decided on my haircut, EVERYTHING...
Don't get me wrong, i love my mom and dad, sincerely! And it wasn't a money thing, my parents aren't rich, but they are better of than most (owning 2 houses outright).
I just felt that they mend well, yet we were so far apart...
oh, and when i hit puberty, my mom hit menopause... that wasn't fun either...
Anyhow, i think if you have a steady partner and he wants children too, you should get started. Don't let the age gap be too big...
I have two boys, at age 24 and 27... so i really don't think it's too late...
all the best,
Mel

The older you get, the more risk you run for having a baby with something wrong with it. Like downs. Before you start, I would talk to a doc. Older women need to be watched more carefully, and a lot of times need a c-section. But I don't think 30 is that bad. But talk to your doc. and see how he feels your health is.

I think 47-50 is much too old. 30 is not old, just a milestone showing you are not an immature teen. I still don't get why people make a big deal out of 30, tough.

At menopause is to old. I was 22 when I had my first and 13yrs 1 month and 15 days later I gave birth to my second.. You do the math I wont reveal my age but its in the 30s

As for the risk of birth defects due to "old eggs" any OB will tell you those risks increase at age 40

My grandparents had my dad when my grandmother was 50 she lived to see my brothers birth 33 yrs later.

You are not too old to have children at all! I had my first at 32 and my second at 35. I know many who have had them at 40 and all were perfect in every way. It is better to have them at an older age because we are more mature, financially and emotionally stable and more patient.

I don't think that it is too late for you to have children at all.

Yes, as you get older the risk for things such as downs gets higher but that doesn't mean your child will have it.

Don't let these people freak you out of having children.

Talk to a doctor and get all the facts just to ease your own mind but don't let these people frighten you.

You should because after you're 35 the chances of miscarriages, fetal malformation and other things increase. Good luck!
