Actually, E85 is 85% ethanol, and 15% gasoline, not diesel. Alcohol increases the octane rating, and is preferred in formula one racing because of its higher power ratio. It's a GOOD thing!

Biodiesel is the same as diesel, it just makes you hungry for french fries!

E85 is not a diesel replacement!! E85 is 85% ethanol, 15% gasoline. It's purpose is to reduce our use of petroleum. It's made mostly from corn, so it's envioromentaly friendly. Unfortunately it's volatilaty is less than gasoline, so mileage actually suffers. You get about 30% worse mileage with E85. Cost differences vary depending on where you live.
