It is very similar because both are science fiction. That bogus rapture doctrine was fabricated in the 1800s and is not taught in any of the older Christian Churches.

i dont think so.
I think the resurrection and ascension will happen even quicker than that
but you must understand that the firstfruits of the resurrection already happened according tothe testimony of matthew ch.27:52 i also read that when jesus returns, the resurrection will continue for a whole year. and then at the end of the resurrection all those that might be damned will rise from the graves too.
Then they will meet God and be able to choose to ask for forgiveness or to be cast out with the sons of perdition

In many ways I think so. It won' be expected and it will not be a voluntary act on our part..I have no idea what it will be like in our wake. Would graves be left open on the ground or just become empty on the inside?
Well, you now know that you will have more interesting questions to ask if the event occurs soon.

I answered a question like this not too long ago, only that one tried to liken beaming up to being resurrected. This issue of being profoundly changed in every aspect and then remade in every exact detail--it does make one think of Christian parallels but I think it has parallels in any school of thought where an epiphany may occur.

Do you remember Enterprise, how they didn't trust the transporter because it did not always work right? Are you sure God will get it right the first time?

No pads necessary. God's technology is spanning the universe. So no matter where you are, there he is.
