So, when you get a speeding ticket do you pay the fine or opt for the jail time?
Would you consider a person who opted to spend days or weeks in jail rather than pay a $50 fine morally superior or just stupid?
And, since I am sure you have payed the fine rather than "doin' the time", doesn't that make you a hypocrite?

We us Jesus as a scapegoat because according the Bible Jesus is a scapegoat. We all require forgiveness because no matter how hard we try we will all fall short. Christianity does not allow you to go around sinning everywhere, knowing that you can just ask forgiveness later.
You would rather spend eternity in hell than ask for forgiveness? I think you must be the most morally deficient, if you cannot give up your pride to ask for forgiveness.

You are more correct than you know -
Before Chirst, in the old testament, there really was a scapegoat. Christ is the parellel to this.
Lev 16:5 And he shall take of the congregation of the children of Israel two kids of the goats for a sin offering, and one ram for a burnt offering.
Le v 16:8 And Aaron shall cast lots upon the two goats; one lot for the LORD, and the other lot for the scapegoat.
Lev 16:10 But the goat, on which the lot fell to be the scapegoat, shall be presented alive before the LORD, to make an atonement with him, and to let him go for a scapegoat into the wilderness.
Lev 16:16 And he shall make an atonement for the holy place, because of the uncleanness of the children of Israel, and because of their transgressions in all their sins: and so shall he do for the tabernacle of the congregation, that remaineth among them in the midst of their uncleanness.
Lev 16:26 And he that let go the goat for the scapegoat shall wash his clothes, and bathe his flesh in water, and afterward come into the camp.

Not all Christian religions believe it's that easy. "Belief" is only all that's required if you choose to read a translation of words from another language, and accept them at first-glance facevalue only.
The Bible clearly shows that belief, or faith, requires actions... and nowhere.... NOWHERE does it say that merely asking forgiveness wipes the slate clean. God can forgive sins, but it requires genuine heartfelt repentance... And that is something you obviously don't have if you commit the same sins over and over. Religions that use confessionals and claim priests can absolve sins are deeply mistaken.
Those who do the crime WILL do the time, God doesn't accept shortcuts or loopholes.

OK thanks for not just being prejudice and bagging out Christianity for no reason. Yes in the physical we should do our time, but God came and died for us so we could live eternally, DIED FOR YOU. That is what he wants for us, we were created to worship him. Until sin entered the world, it was going fine, we were doing what we were meant to be doing. But sin did come into the earth, and this is not what God wanted for us, so he sent his son so we may live, taking our place, so we could be with him in the end! Basically what im trying to say is that we need to ask forgivness because the bible clearly states that after Jesus dies we are in danger of losing our salvation if we sin against our brother.

It will be a sad state of affairs when you try to visit God in heaven and he says that your sacrifice for your sins is not acceptable. God requires a PERFECT sacrifice and nothing mankind can do on his own will ever be perfect in the sight of God. Now is the time. Accept Jesus and know you are a child of the most high God.

Unfortunately, you are right, but that is not the point. God will mourn your loss, but He can't save those who don't want to be saved. He sent Jesus to save those who needed saving, not those who were already saved. Maybe I am morally defunct in your eyes, but I believe that God didn't want me to go to waste. God can not be with sin becuase he is pure, but He still found a way to save you with the Holy spirit and Jesus. Jesus was neccessary because God could no longer be with us, becuase we had gone too far from Him, Even so, He still tried to help us. God is helpless to His own being because not even God can go against what He is, and that is pure. He wants you to be with Him, but unless you purify yourself in Jesus' name, He can not do anything for you.

Never
If you sin you would want to go to Hell for all eternity. Doesn't sound good to me
So I do my best to live by the word of God and talk to people that have honest worthwhile questions. I hope the love of God shows through me

Dear cyclon ji:
Has it occured to you that it takes a legal basis for sins to be forgiven?
God does not simply say:
"Ho hum, I'll forget your bad actions."
There has to be a basis for forgiveness.
Christ's death provides the basis.
AND
Christians did not invent this arrangement.
It was God who took the initiative to set it up.
