this has been going on for 3 years now , i had a salivagram and it showed my saliva tubes ( or something like that ) that run along your cheek have collapsed meaning the saliva has no where to go and builds back into the glands causing them to swell and cause immense facial pain and the surgeons have tried to dialate them under a general but it failed so the removal is a very last resort.

I had my saliva glands (Perotid Glands) removed five years ago everything went fine. The only after effects are that when you eat you tend to sweat and have to wipe the sides of your face it does help if you drink with your food. I had instant relief as the pain before the operation was unbearable. You will have a row of stitches in front and behind your ears and going down under you ear for about 3 inches., in the shape of a Y it soon fades. I was told to use Vitamin E cream, Which you will get from Body Shop....its sold as Carrott Cream...wonderful stuff. You should be back at work within 4-6 weeks.......Good Luck.
