it's pretty warm right now so sick isn't a good answer.

you guys are right, i shouldn't lie to get out of school but at my school, it's better not go school at all, then be tardy (as i am already) because a student can make up work for an absence, rather than lose the day's points with a tardy.

A *legitimate* excuse would be the real reason why you're not going. If you don't have that, then you don't have a legitimate excuse, it's as simple as that.

Get a friend to beat the crap out of you.
Get into an "accident" which is serious enough to keep you out of school for a period of time.
Feign an illness in school a couple of days before and then make an appointment to see your doctor/dentist/therapist/physio to show the legitimacy of your claim and then cancel at the last minute.
Threaten a gang member and then go into hiding. That solves your school problem permanently.
I hope this helps.

Short and simple: You had a migrane headache.

They hurt like hell and you can't stand any light or noise so you'd have to stay home. They can hurt so much that you'll puke.. Tell them you puked from it. They won't ask any questions.

If it is an "excuse" it will not be legitimate if it is a lie.

If you have a legitimate reason you wouldn't need to be asking for excuses.

Get over yourself and be thankful you can go to school.

don't be late/absent in the first place, unless you really do have a good reason. then use that reason. otherwise, take some responsibility for your actions (or lack thereof).

Just tell the truth, that you needed a mental health day. I have been known to say that and it is always accepted.
