My girlfriend and I have started staying at a bed and breakfast when we visit her family, and we're never quite sure whether to leave a tip in our room for the married couple who own and run the place by themselves.

If your room has been serviced while you are there. Leave a tip in the room.

If you were served breakfast then leave a tip on the breakfast table.

You dont have to do this everyday, you can stay the whole weekend and then just tip on the departure day.

Even if it is the owners that are cleaning and serving, you should still leave a tip for the services.

My Parents own a small bed and breakfast. Leaving a tip is customary but not for the owners, the tip is for the cleaning people. Many times the owners are the cleaning people but that's not really important.

Never thought about it, but I never have. I've stayed in a few. Try emailing a B&B and ask them if people tip.
