At least wait until Service Pack 1 of Vista is released...then you know all the major teething troubles have been resolved. Plus by then all the software manufacturers will have proper Vista versions!
Also, make sure you have 2 Gb of RAM and that your video card can handle Aero, otherwise there's no point for now...XP is stable after all!
And yes, you can go back, so long as you have a proper licensed copy of Windows XP ... and for that, you need to be sure that the Vista upgrade license will not supercede your XP license. BUT, you need to follow the instructions at this link to be able to use Vista in 30 days trial mode - this will NOT invalidate your XP License key as Vista is NOT validated.....

Hope that helps

If someone is giving you a free Vista Business upgrade disc, then take it. But don't do the upgrade yet. Keep running XP Pro until you see Microsoft release service pack 1 for Vista. At that point you know that the worst of the problems were resolved.
If you rely heavily on software other than Microsoft's you should know that Vista isn't playing nice with some of it. QuickBooks is one program, largely Intuit's fault, that's having hordes of issues running within Vista. Check your software provider's forums and find out what issues there are with it within Vista.
Give it 8 months to a year before taking the plunge.

NO!!!
XP Pro is considered by many to be the best platform out there. Many programs are not ready to run on the Vista platform simply because it is so new and nobody has had time to develope products for the new Vista. Also, the recommended memory for Vista is 4 Gb. I believe the minimum is 2 Gb. Vista is a memory hog and is not supported by many applications. Another thing is the price. Vista is very expensive right now just because it is so new to the market.
Vista has great potential, but not this early in the game. Give it until the end of this year and then look into upgrading. By then all the drivers and applications will be ready for it.

It is a trick to get you locked into the Next expensive 'upgrade' that is a huge resource hog. Sales of Vista are less than 2%!
Look, aren't you a bit tired of being 'forced' or co-erced into thinking "inside the box" that Microsoft and it's "Trusted Partners" have created, that makes you have to become a computer technician just to do your own office files or email?
Grab a FREE Operating System for your PC that has total immunity to the "114,000 Microsoft Virus Definitions"!
http://pclinuxos.com is a LiveCDrom so it can run in the CD, boot in RAM, and has 1900 games, apps., suites!
Then, 310 more LiveCDroms are at http://livecdlist.com
All FREE! Just think, Yahoo and Hotmail run FreeBSD, Google runs Linux, as does Microsoft and MSN.
The Fortune 500 Corporations all run *BSD or GNU/Linux. Maybe you should try a FREE one!
Think "outside the box"!

there is no reason to upgrade, XP pro with sp2 is considered the best Microsoft OS at the moment, advice coming from everywhere states this, and you can do without the DRM and additional Bloat that is within Vista

theres not really much difference to be honest.
vista is more like windows xp with lipstick on.
your hardware should be all compatable so you wont have any issues there, otherwise u can contact the manufacturer who will sort it out for you.
theres no reason to upgrade as of yet.
and finally, unfortunately if you upgrade your windows xp key will become invalidated!!!! its a new plot by microsoft.
hope this helps

Yes you can theoretically downgrade back to XP if you still have its disc, but you shouldn't upgrade to begin with!
Don't do it! Vista is crap! It's full of bugs and glitches and half your software won't even work with it! Don't buy into Microsoft's propoganda.

NO ! NO ! NO ! don't fall for Microsoft Marketing, at present Vista is not suitable for the majority of comps out there. It's memory hungry and most of the usual software has problems. Stick with what you have for now.

you are able to improve, that's extra low fee, yet think of long and tough approximately whether you choose to. a good number of poeple i be attentive to need XP and maximum application works only nice with it. inspect Microsoft's internet site for fees on upgrading, or you will get it at any workplace/electronics shop.
