Hello, I'm a 15 year old that has issues with peircings. Whenever I get my ears peirced, my knees and elbows break out in exzema. Is there a way to fix this? Because I really wanna get more peirced but its hard because of this. Do you think I might grow out of it?

I used to suffer from exzema when I was hunger mainly because I would scratch it. So, first rule to exzema is try not to scratch it because it does spread. I personally think you will grow out of it. There are two things that irritate exzema and that is cold weather and dry air. On the other hand heat suppresses it and so does moisture. I always have my outbreaks in the winter, the summer doesn't really bother me too much. I do know that people that have exzema and psoraisis real bad can often times use uv rays/lights such as a tanning bed to help their skin. There is also hydrocortisone creams that work and Aveeno skin care line is great for exzema. I have lived with exzema my whole life but I must admit I have never heard of exzema being caused by peircings, however one doctor told me that exzema can also be caused by stress. I think that's why I get my outbreaks mainly in the winter because I do not like cold weather and it stresses me out to be in it. Good luck sweetie, I hope it all works out!

It could be that you have a sensitivity to nickel. Nickel is commonly used in most piercing products.

Make sure that whenever you do get pierced, that you use 24 ct gold.
